J Fox was founded in 1995 by Ashwin Rao as a sock supplier. Since then, the firm has developed to a company that turns over £7 million supplying socks, T shirts, underwear, sleepwear, bags, belts, wallets and purses.
The product portfolio offers SKUs for men, women, children and babies and a large part of J Fox’s business is in the licensed sector. The firm works with a number of high profile licensors including DC Thomson, Warner Bros, Hasbro, Nickelodeon and more.
In order to keep its licensed products to the best standard and value, J Fox has established partners in the manufacturing industry throughout Indonesia, Turkey, China and India, each of which it has been working with for at least seven years, meaning they are extremely experienced in tailoring the products to the licensee’s needs.
Having had a strong year in 2010, J Fox now plans to build on its existing offering by building its brands and adding more.
Brian Leigh, commercial manager explains: “We were very successful on Dandy and Beano, TMNT, Ghostbusters and Transformers during 2010 and plan to concentrate on these plus Rubik's Cube, Match Box, Scrabble, He Man, Spongebob Squarepants and The Beatles during 2011.”
With such a wide range of licences on their books, it comes as no surprise that J Fox works with an equally diverse list of retailers, including Dunnes, Asos, New Look, Top Shop, Next, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Aldi and Primark, among others.
Also key to success for the company is its design studio, which offers a highly experienced team, which uses the latest CAD technology.
The firm is also always looking for new applications including foils, hand embroidery, caviar beading and gift products. The team also offers a packaging design service.
Leigh explains how the firm manages to remain competitive in such a busy sector: “We are a design led, very competively priced company.
"I believe that our success is based on the speed we can deliver finished CADS to customers and the prices we are able to achieve. We have an excellent choice of licences available and our designers are able to show the characters off to its best.”
