Brand Licensing Conference 2008

Hotel Ashok, New Delhi, India

India's first international licensing show is looking to make an impact...

This new two-day conference will aim to analyse the growth of the licensing industry in India and its impact on retailing in the territory.

There are 100 exclusive shopping malls and 300 more are scheduled to open by 2010 in India. Market size of the Indian retail sector is believed to be $320 billion in 2006 and the value is expected to grow 30 per cent to 35 per cent by 2010.

The strength of the retail industry should be a real draw for the licensing business, and seminars have been set up to try and get this across.

Day One will include strands on the basics of licensing; financial and commercial know-how; basic legal know-how and licensing opportunities in India. Day Two, meanwhile, will cover the art of character licensing; licensing in lifestyle, fashion and corporate brands; TV and entertainment licensing; art licensing and brand building; plus working with licensing agents and consultants.

Speakers confirmed so far include Kelvyn Gardner, LIMA UK; Shailesh Chaturvedi, Tommy Hilfiger India; Roshni Bakshi, DCP India and Asia; and John Burns, Halliwells LLP among others.
