MEET THE BOARD: Part 2

Apr 10

Cartoon Network's Alan Fenwick, brand consultant Caroline Mickler, Danilo's Trevor Jones and Chris Protheroe from Copyright Promotions Sport all profiled...

Alan Fenwick, VP, Europe, Middle East and Asia, Cartoon Network Enterprises

Fenwick is perfectly placed to give Licensing.biz an insight into what a kids’ TV channel is looking for from its trade media. As VP for CNE across the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions, he is responsible for creating integrated licensing and home entertainment strategies, incorporating additional expertise across the ad sales, sponsorship and promotions, marketing and creative departments. He is also charged with expanding links between CNE and its licensees, agents and retailers, and looks after the digital content strategy covering Download to Own (Electronic Sell-through) and Transactional Video on demand.
Prior to joining CNE in April 2007, Fenwick was UK retail director at Warner Bros Entertainment UK from 2003 where he spearheaded retail lifecycle strategies across theatrical, Warner Home Video, TV, consumer products, online and mobile divisions. Prior to that, he spent 11 years at Woolworths.

Caroline Mickler, Brand and Licensing Consultant

Mickler has a strong background in building licensing strategies, for not only brands but also for film and TV properties.
Her client list includes Apple Corp (The Beatles), Novel Entertainment (Horrid Henry) and, most recently, the Parthenon Entertainment Group (Magic Roundabout, Domo, Puppy in My Pocket, Jakers and Those Scurvy Rascals).
Before her move into independent licensing, Mickler was MD of PolyGram Licensing, where she enjoyed great success with the global roll out of Mr Bean. Prior to PolyGram, she was joint MD of Copyright Promotions International, where she was responsible for launching Mr Men/Little Miss and Phantom of the Opera in Japan; Tom and Jerry in the Middle East; and a number of high profile properties in the UK including Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Beano and Dandy, Pink Panther and My Little Pony.

Trevor Jones, Licensing Director, Danilo

A career that started as a management trainee at Selfridges has given Jones a wide breadth of experience across areas such as sports, celebrity, music, film, TV and entertainment on which Licensing.biz is hoping to draw from.
He’s been a retail buyer, publisher, creative, licensor and licensee, with his current role at Danilo involving seeking out licences and ensuring that the product is successful creatively and commercially.
He cites working with some talent people in the UK media and being recognised by his peers with awards in both the licensing and card industries as just some of his career highlights.
“I would hope to bring some licensee insights to the Board and to bring a sense of balance with the licensors/agents in the Industry. The site is already a good communication tool for both licensors and licensees, but it will need to evolve in response to changes/demands of the licensing community,” Jones states.

Chris Protheroe, Managing Director, Copyright Promotions Sport

Now MD of the specialist sports rights agency that sits within CPLG, Protheroe is also a board member of the main operating company and of the group company CPG.
He boasts over 25 years experience in the licensing industry. Previously deputy MD of Sony Signatures he ran the European licensing programme for FIFA World Cup France 98. Protheroe has also worked for Penguin Books as children’s rights director, Yorkshire TV as head of publishing and licensing and BBC Worldwide (then BBC Enterprises) as head of licensing.
