Jun 16

The man behind the resurgence of Pinky & Perky talks us through his career in the business...

Name:
Mark Hurry

Time spent in licensing industry:
Five years.

First job in licensing:
Director of commercial affairs at Granada Ventures.

What were your responsibilities?
Expanding the hit show Little Britain into the licensing space.

Current job in licensing:
Director of legal and commercial affairs at PPC Enterprises.

What are your responsibilities?
To spearhead the development and exploitation of PPC Enterprises' brands such as Pinky & Perky into merchandising, home entertainment and new media spaces. PPC Enterprises is also a licensing agent so we're actively working with IP owners and seeking new brands to represent.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
It would probably have to be acquiring the merchandising rights for Little Britain from the BBC while I was at Granada Ventures.

What is the best licence you have worked on so far in your career?
Pinky & Perky is a great brand to work on. The main characters in the show are funky and vibrant and the potential that the celebrity characters bring is very exciting for us.

What licence would you most like to have in your portfolio?
Player image rights to the top Premiership football teams.

If you could choose your dream job in licensing, what would it be and why?
My job at PPC Enterprises already takes some beating.

What's the best thing about working in the licensing business?
Every day is different and people in the industry are great.
