MD, Zap
Aug 12

Anthony Duckworth talks us through 16 years of selling licensed character bedding...

Name:
Anthony Duckworth

Time spent in licensing:
16 years - man and boy.

First job in licensing:
Sales manager at Zap Limited, specialists in licensed character bedding and accessories.

What were your responsibilities?
Trying to convince respectable bedding buyers that they really needed to buy licensed character bedding in order to survive - yes, even on those margins.

Current job in licensing:
Managing director at Zap.

What are your responsibilities?
Managing a fantastic team of dedicated hard working people.

What is your greatest achievement?
Professionally, signing Kung Fu Panda when Andy was on holiday - he dare not go away again. Personally, having two beautiful children.

What is the best licence you have worked on so far in your career?
It would have to be Teletubbies - though Liverpool Football Club would have to be a close second.

What licence would you most like to have in your portfolio?
I will have it soon. Watch this space.

If you could choose your dream job in licensing, what would it be and why?
I would like to open a Zap office in Hawaii or the Seychelles, though to be honest nothing can compare to Chorley.

What is the best thing about working in the licensing business?
I am very lucky, there are some great people, great parties and it has given me the opportunity to help with The Light Fund, something that has been really worthwhile and great fun.
