MY LIFE IN LICENSING: Jeremy Saul

Managing Director, Brand 360
Aug 28

The former TLC man talks us through his ten years in the business...

Name:
Jeremy Saul

Time spent in the licensing industry:
Ten years

First job in licensing:
At The Licensing Company (TLC) managing textiles. However, I was first introduced to the industry when I was a retail buyer at Marks & Spencer responsible for men's character - which is where I met Angela Farrugia from TLC who I must thank for recruiting me and bringing me into the industry.

Current job in licensing:
Managing director of Brand 360. I'm responsible for delivering results and building the business.

What is your greatest achievement so far?
Finally realising my dream of starting my own branding business. Also putting together the world's first university course on branding at Manchester University, which is now going into its third year.

What is the best licence you have worked on so far in your career?
Depends how you define best licence - the most fun was working with Marco Pierre White and Atomic Kitten.

What licence would you most like to have in your portfolio?
Dolce and Gabbana.

If you could choose your dream job in licensing, what would it be and why?
I have my dream job - running my own business, using all my previous experience as a manufacturer, retail buyer and licensing agent to give my clients a truly 360 view of the business. It's now down to me and my team to make things happen.

What's the best thing about working in the licensing business?
The people, the brands, the retailers, the diversity, the challenge and, most of all, seeing the deals you have put together get to market and sell.
