Design Manager  – Creative Services, Zodiak RightsZodiak Rights represents a wide portfolio of wholly owned & 3rd party, kids & brand titles namely Waybuloo, Tickety Toc, Mister Maker, Little Princess, Yo Gabba Gabba, Simon’s Cat, Mr Bean and Being Human.

Within the Brand Management team this role is to manage, guide and steer licensees throughout the product design and development process for each of these brands.

The individual will be expected to ensure licensees work and develop product within the creative tolerances set out in brand style guides ensuring product design is executed at the highest quality from concept to production.

The Design Manager will be responsible for assisting the origination and development of design materials for key brands including style guides and subsequent updates, product concept boards as well as creative resources for the Marketing and Licensing Sales team. The role will involve building and maintaining working relationships with internal teams as well as third party producers across a range of brands.  It will also involve working with artistes and agents on the creative and product development of new properties.

Key Responsibilities:·

Monitor, report and provide support and training on design programmes to the department and wider team.

Promote and share with ZK division different design disciplines and their influences.

Monitor and share trend research across all disciplines with department on a frequent basis.·    Keep up to date on innovative product design in the market and how we can apply concepts and ideas to our brand portfolio through bi-weekly comp shops and general trend research.

Design and develop product inspiration boards to demonstrate innovative brand application to potential and current licensees and retailers.·    Manage design briefing and full art direction for the consumer and trade marketing departments.

Support Head of CS to select, brief, appoint and manage design consultants and ensure they perform in line with the agreed schedule and scope of services.

Support Head of CS in the management of new style guides/ updates and asset creation with relevant design agencies, producers, creators, and animation teams.

Supply artwork and development materials to licensees/agents and provide day-to-day creative support.

Design and develop consumer products and ensure they are within creative tolerance levels and adhere to all rights clearances and legal/ contractual requirements

Ensure approvals correspondence and imagery is logically stored and accessible to the rest of the Licensing team.

Build and maintain relationships with agents, talent and producers and work with them to achieve all the necessary product approvals

Ensure from a creative perspective that deals done by the Licensing Sales teams are delivered working collaboratively with each sales manager throughout the process.

Produce appropriate product initiatives, working with the Licensing Department to maximise commercial potential of brands.

Produce presentational materials to be used by the licensing sales team

Ensure all administration, filing and documentation is achieved efficiently and that accurate records are kept

To perform ad hoc project work as requested by the Head of CS
Knowledge:

Knowledge and understanding of the Licensing Industry

Knowledge of relevant markets for brands/competitor awareness

Excellent PC and graphic package skills; a relevant creative design qualification to degree level is preferred.Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills and a real team player

A positive and proactive attitude which will help create a culture of openness and collaboration·    The ability to work with people at all levels of seniority and the ability to manage conflict with diplomacy and tact.

Creative and artistic empathy, appreciation and ability.

Ability to work well within a team environment and maintain an awareness of all work within that environment.

Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.Experience:Minimum of 2-3 years experience in creative product development within a consumer products environment.
