US: Thumbs up for new Nelvana shows

Broadcasters come on board for raft of new series from the company.

Following a successful MIPTV, Nelvana Enterprises has revealed a number of broadcast sales for some of its newest series.

The Future is Wild - which combines action, adventure and science fiction with lessons in evolution - has been signed by RTL2 in Germany, Luk International in Spain and Portugal, RTBF in Belgium, YLE2 in Scandinavia and Animal Planet in Latin America.

Willa's Wild Life (pictured) - which follows the adventures of Willa, a little girl who brings home stray penguins and hippos instead of cats and dogs - has been picked up by Discovery Kids in Latin America.

Mediaset in Italy has picked up 26 episodes of Pearlie, which is an urban-fairy comedy based on the best selling books by Australian comedienne Wendy Harmer.

Finally, Z-Squad has been sold to De Agostini in Italy. The show is produced by Enemes and features a blend of 2D anime design and 3D shading.
