Multi-year agreement with MGA Entertainment hot on heels of deals with Hit and LeapFrog.
Lionsgate has acquired the US and Canadian distribution rights to product created under MGA Entertainment’s new Animated Little Tikes Entertainment label, growing its presence in the family home entertainment arena.
The label currently consists of four CGI animated stories, with the first release – Little Tikes Land – expected to hit retail this autumn. The deal also includes rights to all electronic sell-through and VOD materials.
It follows on from the independent studio’s agreement with Hit Entertainment to distribute children’s non-theatrical product and with LeapFrog Enterprises to develop, produce and distribute original direct-to-DVD features.
Anne Parducci, Lionsgate’s executive vice president, marketing and family entertainment, said: “Lionsgate is thrilled to be in business with MGA once again with Little Tikes, one of the most respected family brands in the world.
"We are proud to add Little Tikes, an evergreen company that has been around for almost 40 years, to our roster of highly recognised and trusted family brands. Little Tikes has demonstrated tremendous brand awareness and trust among parents that is certain to carry over into the DVD aisles.”
MGA Entertainment CEO, Isaac Larian, added: “We consider Lionsgate the perfect partner for our Little Tikes animated DVD feature. They have a great understanding of today’s family entertainment marketplace.”
