Firm to create range of plush based on TV-Loonland's short movie.

Toy firm Vivid Imaginations continues to add to its stable of licences, signing a deal with TV-Loonland for The Owl.

Now showing on BBC and CBBC, The Owl is made up of 52 one-minute episodes which track the perilous adventures of a quirky owl. Unfortunately, The Owl always bites the dust in a different and bizarre accident at the end of every show.

It has been sold into over 185 territories, and in the UK The Owl is performing three times better than the same slot in the previous year. Indeed, just one month after launch, it was the number three show overall on multi-channel.

"The Owl has a merciless charm that appeals to everyone's mischievous side and we immediately likened the character and the opportunity to that of global hits Flat Eric and the Crazy Frog," explained Emma Sherski, marketing and licensing director at Vivid.

"We are fast tracking production of a range of plush toys for this Christmas to reach territories where The Owl is already a hit, namely the UK, France, US and the Nordic region."

Bernd Conrad, head of licensing and merchandising at TV-Loonland, added: "We are thrilled to be working with Vivid on The Owl. It has a lot of potential and Vivid's exciting new range will definitely be a hit throughout international markets."

We are in Australia and my 2 year old has loved the owl since it was first broadcast on ABC We have been waiting for the DVD to be released here or the UK or USA so we can buy it for her. We have already bought 3 of the stuffed owls for her all with a different expression, the "Im tired" "Shocked" and im going to kill you!" expressions! Keeps the same amusing sense of humor in line with the series
