Chorion expands its London-based licensing division in the run up to a busy 2009.

The firm has appointed Bettina Köckler as vice president of Licensing Sales UK & EMEA, as it readies for Noddy’s 60th Anniversary, the launch of the Olivia TV series and the broadcast of The Mr Men Show in new territories in 2009.

Köckler will be responsible for exploiting and developing the firm’s licensing, merchandising and publishing of licensing activity across the UK and Europe. Taking up the position from Licensing International in June, she will report directly to Eric Karp, the EVP of Global Licensing and Merchandising.

She joins Chorion with a wealth of consumer products and licensing experience, having been most recently in demand as a licensing and merchandising consultant for media companies such as CBS, IRMASWORLD, Sony Pictures and 19 Entertainment.

Prior to this, she was chairman of MerchandisingMedia.

She also held the post of VP International Licensing at Sony Pictures Consumer Products.

Karp said: “We are delighted to welcome Bettina to our London-based licensing division. She has a fantastic track record in consumer products across Europe and we are certain that she will prove to be a valuable asset to Chorion as we build upon the success of many of the world’s most cherished children’s properties including Noddy, Mr Men, Beatrix Potter and Paddington Bear.”

Köckler added: “Chorion is a vibrant, fast-growing company and I’m delighted to be joining at such an exciting time of expansion for the company. I’m looking forward to taking Chorion’s diversified portfolio into new markets and to building relationships with key partners with these classic brands.”
