New European tour to start this July featuring lifesize models of Lightning McQueen, Sally and Mater.
Disney Consumer Products is taking its popular Cars franchise on the road this summer.
Kicking off on July 23rd and running for three months, the new tour will feature lifesize models of key characters such as Lightning McQueen, Sally and Mater. Beginning in the UK, the tour will take in Germany, Spain, Austria, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands, France and Switzerland.
A variety of activities have been planned to take place in each country.
In the UK, it will visit London, Manchester, Bristol, Reading and Oldbury, as well as making a pit stop at the British International Motor Show.
In addition to exclusive 'first-see' opportunities for consumers to get their hands on the new Walking Talking Lightning McQueen from master toy licensee Mattel before it hits retail, each stop will have interactive games, photo opportunities with the cars, competitions and goodie bags.
The tour will feature Cars characters Lightning McQueen, a custom-built car with a fibreglass body on a 1978 Trans Am chassis; Sally, a customised 2002 Porsche 911; Mater, a custom-built vehicle built on a Chevy dually pickup chassis; and Mack the Truck, based on a 1985 Mack super-liner.
The cars have been on display at a number of museums around the world, including Los Angeles and Australia.
The Cars franchise generated over $2 billion in global retail sales during fiscal year 2007.
