Waheed Alli has been named in the Media Guardian's annual top 100 countdown to the most powerful people in the industry.

Now in its eighth year, candidates for the list are judged on three criteria - their cultural, economic and political influence in the UK. The list takes in all sectors of the media, including broadcasting, publishing, digital media, advertising, marketing and PR.

Lord Alli comes in at number 65. He is a Labour peer and one of the brains behind The Big Breakfast, having founded the production company Planet 24 with Charlie Parsons and Bob Geldof.
