ITALY: Atlantyca hires new head of content publishing division

One of Italy's most prominent authors becomes editor in chief.
Animation production company Atlantyca Entertainment has appointed one of Italy's top authors as the editor in chief of its content publishing division.
Pierdomenico Baccalario - who has held numerous editor positions with some of Italy's top publishing houses including De Agostini, Mondadori and Edizioni Piemme - will head up the arm, which is dedicated to creating and developing new content for book products based on entertainment properties and characters.
His first task is to develop the content for Taffy Entertainment's Code Lyoko books.
The appointment follows on from Atlantyca's announcement of the new division and a deal with Taffy to produce a series of loosely-based novels on the popular animated fantasy action adventure kids' TV series.
"Pierdomenico has a tremendous gift and appreciation for books, most certainly children's books," said Pietro Marietti, chairman of Atlantyca.
"We are thrilled to have his expertise and creative talent to head this newest endeavor. An editor of his calibre is certain to successfully lead us in achieving our projected publishing goals."
