Toy line leading the charge as consumer products roll out for new children's property.
4Kids Entertainment is planning a major worldwide launch of its licensing programme for new children's property Dinosaur King.
Master toy licensee Playmates will be leading the charge, with a spring 2009 release for its products which include dinosaur figures and role-play items inspired by the series - which currently airs on the 4KidsTV block on Fox in the US.
Playmates will distribute the line throughout North America and Eastern Europe, with one or more distribution partners covering the rest of the world outside of Asia and the Middle East.
Upper Deck will also be playing a key role with the launch of a new trading card game planned for October. The Dinosaur King Trading Card Game will feature dinosaur art cards with real dinosaur facts on each. The 130+ collectable card set will include over 80 dinosaurs, plus three different foil technologies to boost the collectibility.
The cards will also be include in the Playmates figures, providing special strengths and abilities for the trading cards.
Moving on, and Sega is releasing a video game for Nintendo's DS platform in September. The kid-friendly title will give gamers the chance to excavate, battle and trade items to save the dinosaurs from extinction.

As well as in the US, Dinosaur King is also proving a hit internationally. It is currently airing on YTV (Canada), TV2 (Denmark), TV4 (Sweden), Mediaset (Italy), RTL2 (Germany), France 3 (France), Canal J (France) and Jetix (UK, Scandinavia, Spain and Latin America) among others. The second series is due to launch this autumn on 4Kids TV in the US.
