Children's publisher creates interactive website for consumers to learn more about favourite characters and authors.
Egmont UK is due to unveil its new internet presence on September 15th.
The firm is hoping that the newly designed and digitally interactive website will raise brand awareness for the company and drive sales of its print products.
Egmont.co.uk has been redeveloped to further engage with the firm's audiences and will include quick and easy search tools for navigating and locating content. It will also incorporate web 2.0 features aimed at both parents and children.
For parents and guardians, the website will provide purchasing information, downloadable material for children and a monitored site, while kids will be able to access games and media content.
The website will also offer audio sampling and opportunities for social bookmarking, which will allow users to share and save links across the internet on popular sites like Facebook and Digg. User generated content - in the form of book ratings and reviews - will also be encouraged.
A special Author's Page will mean that authors and illustrators will be able to engage with fans and readers, providing opportunities for authors to create blogs, poll readers and reply to questions asked by fans. Authors taking part will include Jenny Nimmo, Andy Stanton, Julia Golding, Lydia Monks and Jim Helmore, plus a number of other authors from Egmont's portfolio.
"Egmont.co.uk will be a vibrant and interactive way for us to engage with our highly valued consumers - both parents and children," said Jo De Lange, digital director at Egmont. "We are proud to offer digital features that we believe will enhance our brand, our authors and provide an essential service to drive sales further."
