Aardman secures raft of international TV deals for Shaun the Sheep.
Aardman's children's brand Shaun the Sheep has proven to be such a hit that CBBC controller Anne Gilchrist has acquired a second series of 40 seven-minute episodes.
The new series will begin shooting in early 2009 and Aardman has already secured a number of pre-sales for the show.
Among the broadcasters which have snapped up the new episodes are ABC Australia, TF1 France, WDR Germany, YLE Finland, SVT Sweden, DR Denmark and Noga in Israel.
Shaun the Sheep is also proving to be a success in the licensing marketplace, already securing 28 UK licensees including Golden Bear as master toy partner and Egmont as publishing partner, in addition to numerous international deals.
"We continue to be overwhelmed by the response to the property and we're excited that broadcasters are already on board for the new series," said head of broadcast at Aardman, Miles Bollough. "Shaun is proving to be a hugely successful global brand."
CBBC's Gilchrist added: "CBBC viewers have flocked to chuckle at Shaun and his chums, and this new series will see Shaun's unique combination of enthusiasm and naivety catapult them into another gaggle of hilarious escapades."
