Then visit the Rocket Licensing stand next week to take part in a special BLE Atari Asteroids Championship.

Following on from the success of its Dangerous Book for Boys conker tournament last year, Rocket Licensing will be hosting a special BLE Atari Asteroids Championship on its stand at Olympia next week.

Visitors to stand 625 - or just passers-by who would like to play - will be invited to try their luck.

Licensing.biz will be running a regularly updated leader board of the top ten, while this will also be on display on the Rocket stand.

The final will take place on Thursday October 2nd at 4pm on the stand - with Rocket bosses Rob Wijeratna and Charlie Donaldson presenting the overall winner with a silver cup, plus a pack of Atari goodies. A short photo session and champagne will follow.

There is, however, a business related theme behind the idea - Atari has recently appointed Rocket as licensor in the UK of its classic trademark and the images and icons associated with the Atari games that began the video gaming revolution.

"We're trying to make it fun and inclusive, to get people involved and to get a bit of a buzz going," Wijeratna explained. "And people love playing Asteroids as well. We could send out invites, but I suspect we won't need to. Everyone we've spoken to so far says 'yes, we'll come and play' and their eyes light up."

I'm off to get practicing. I'm not suffering the same kind of embarrassment I did in the conkers last year!
