CGI animated comedy series picked up by leading British children's channel.
TV-Loonland has revealed that CBBC has acquired its new CGI animation Leon at Mipcom. The channel has committed to a pre-buy deal for exclusive TV and 'catch up' rights in the UK.
Leon is a co-production between TV-Loonland, Studio Hari and France 3, with TV-L holding all rights worldwide.
It follows the adventures of life's unluckiest lion - Leon - and has been inspired by some of the all-time animation classics, mixing slapstick, squash and stretch genius.
"We are so delighted to be working with TV-Loonland and Studio Hari again after our fantastic experience with The Owl," said Jesse Cleverly, head of acquisitions and original animation at CBBC. "Leon is already shaping up to be a floppy fringed favourite with our audience who will love the combination of a great character and brilliantly judged physical comedy."
Justine Bannister, head of distribution at TV-L, added: "Leon is pure animated genius. We have really enjoyed working with CBBC on The Owl and delighted that they have committed to Leon at such an early stage of development."
