BLE 08: The Reaction

Industry executives share their views on this year's Brand Licensing Europe.

The tenth anniversary of Advanstar's Brand Licensing Europe show promised much ahead of its opening, and signs are good that this general optimism and enthusiasm was carried through the two-day event.

Indeed, Advanstar is confident of official figures equalling the success of the record breaking 2007 event.

Licensing.biz canvassed opinion from visitors and exhibitors to the event to find out what they thought.

What were the big talking points? Which key trends emerged? Did all the new additions from Advanstar work and what, if anything, would they like to see tweaked for 2009?

One of the best London licensing shows we have been too over the past few years.
Congrats to the organisers and the excellent PR company Bastion. They put on a genuinely valuable event for everyone that attended.

Like many people, I thought this show was the best yet in many ways but as the event grows, the logistics that make the show work on a practical level for its many visitors seem to be getting ever more challenging. Two areas that really do need addressing for 2009 are the huge queues at the cloakroom that can make visitors run late for the entire day (very irritating for both visitors and exhibitors) and the total lack of adequate seating for visitors to stop, relax, catch up with colleagues or simply quietly review what they have seen to date.
The paucity of visitor seating also has the knock-on effect of making table availability at any of the on-site cafés as scarce as hen’s teeth!
