Editor of girls' title Sparkle World honoured at British Society of Magazine Editors Awards.
Redan Publishing's Beccy Bland has been named an Editor of the Year at the British Society of Magazine Editors Awards, in recognition of the editorial excellence and success of its primary girls' title, Sparkle World.
The judges described the magazine as "enterprising and full of fizz, really living up to its title".
Bland puts the win down to a raft of editorial innovations which led to a period of unprecedented high sales during this year.
"Winning a BSME Award is the highest accolade a magazine editor can earn and I really think that Sparkle World is a worthy winner," said Bland. "I was thrilled in July when our debut ABC figure was announced at 63,815 and 2008 has seen our two best selling issues ever, each selling over 80,000 copies."
Sparkle World is Redan's flagship title, including stories and activities based around characters such as Rainbow Magic, My Little Pony, Strawberry Shortcake and Polly Pocket, among others. It is aimed at three to nine year-olds and retails at £2.45.
