New advisory board to explore expansion opportunities for character brands in key markets.
China and India appear to be the first targets in Marvel Entertainment's international expansion drive.
The company this week revealed the formation of a new International Advisory Board - comprised of business leaders from key growth markets - to help it explore opportunities for expanding the Marvel name and its characters internationally.
The board will be chaired by James Halpin, a Marvel director since 1995, while Simon Philips, president of worldwide consumer products, will serve as the primary company liasion to the board.
In addition to Halpin, Peter Yip, executive vice chairman and CEO of the CDC Corporation, and Bollywood film producer Manmohan Shetty (a former chairman of Adlabs Films) are also on the board, representing China and India respectively.
Marvel is currently in the process of filling two additional advisory board positions.
