Nick's H20 hits book shelves

First print titles from Simon & Schuster go on sale for teen hit.

Nickelodeon's hit teen show H20 Just Add Water has made the transition into print, with the successful launch of two Simon & Schuster books.

The new books - H20 Just Add Water: Living with Secrets and H20 Just Add Water: No Ordinary Girl - have sold 12,000 copies since launch, with WH Smith accounting for particularly high figures.

The deal will see Simon & Schuster publishing a further two titles later on in the year - Just Add Water: Fishy Business and H20 Just Add Water: Sleep Over Tail.

"We are delighted by the way the H20 Just Add Water books have performed," said Elisa Offord, marketing and PR director at Simon & Schuster Children's. "The sales figures are incredibly positive and we are confident that the upcoming titles will do just as well."

A wide range of products are due out around the H20 brand this year. Autumn/winter will see apparel, video games, bags, accessories and stationery roll out from licensees including Vivid Imaginations, Paramount Home Entertainment, Pyramid, J&K Henderson and Alpa.

"Having a huge name like Simon & Schuster on board is fantastic and just goes to show what a strong property H20 Just Add Water is," added Clare Piggott, VP of consumer products at Nickelodeon UK. "With a full licensing programme launching later this year, the brand is set to really move forward in 2009."
