Ben & Holly ready for licensing push

Ben & Holly ready for licensing push

First phase of products planned for early 2010 after successful TV debut.

Having made its broadcast debut on Nick Jr earlier this month, the licensing programme for Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is now stepping up a gear.

E1 Entertainment (formerly Contender Merchandising), which owns the rights to the property, is planning ahead to meet an expected high demand for product across all categories.

Retail launch discussions are already well advanced, with a targeted launch with a small number of retailers being planned for March 2010.

The main launch will then follow in June.

A number of licensees are on board including Golden Bear as master toy. Penguin is planning a series of books for launch next March; Cooneen and Misirli have been licensed to supply nightwear, underwear and socks; Cohen and Wilkes will supply outerwear; Character World has bedding; and Jumbo will roll out puzzles and games.

"We are thrilled with the response from the licensing community to Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom, and with the strong backing the series has received from Nick Jr and many other children's channels worldwide," said Hannah Mungo, licensing manager at E1 Entertainment.

"As with Peppa Pig, our aim is to build this delightful and engaging property with care and sensitivity, with an eye to making it a long-term success.

"Judging from the way in which the popularity of the TV show has been matched by licensee and retail support for the merchandising programme, it looks like Ben & Holly's Little Kingdom is well on its way to achieving that aim."

Hi
My daughter loves this programme it is very cleverly made, with stong characters (which are real children's voices) and good story lines. It is very funny and witty and has great animation and she can't wait to see what other characters are brought in over the coming weeks and months and how they are allowed to develop and grow - she also cannot wait for the other products/toys to be in the shops!! - So well sone and keep up the good work.

My daughter loves Ben and Holly, possibly even more than she loves Peppa Pig, and seeing as this show comes from the same production company, i can't believe they could not have predicted how succesful the show would be, get the merchandising machine ramped up and get something out in time for Christmas. I understand they want to get the quality right, but surely some forward planning would have made this possible!

My daughter loves it and can't wait for toys to be released, she uses her little people castle to play Ben and Holly, and we have had to tape episodes so she can keep watching it as its only on twice a day.

My 3 year old daughter (nearly 4) has been a huge fan of Peppa Pig since she was a baby. In watching Ben & Holly, she really enjoys the humour, and makes Mummy & Daddy watch the funny bits, when she knows the episode well. We can't wait to see what toys Ben & Holly produce!
