Carratu International, an investigation agency based in London, has been instructed to investigate irregularities in the licensing of merchandise in the sports card and sticker industry.

The MD of the company confirmed that, while its client could not be named for legal reasons, Carratu was carrying out an investigation.

“This international investigation is mainly focused on contracts for sporting tournaments, scheduled in the US and South Africa,” said Paul Carratu. “Our earlier investigations centred within Europe, on deals with sports bodies and associations that were preventing a fair trading and proper tendering environment.

“The investigation concerns the business ethics and practices attached to contracts, with many of the deals being with household names that could contain elements of ‘commission, marketing in kind, value in kind, bribes, kickbacks, etc’.”
