Spanish production and distribution firm switches name, while looking to grow Asia presence with new deals.

To reflect its growth into new genres such as live action and new media, Icon Animation has become Imira Entertainment - and at the same time has grown its presence in the Asian market with a number of new deals.

Imira will be taking its slate of animation and live action to the upcoming ATF 2007 and will be seeking further deals at the show.

Rat Man, from its third party slate, has sold to HBO Family Channel Asia as part of a pan-Asia agreement. In addition, all TV and home video rights to Olympics-themed Go!Go! Pig for Taiwan have been picked up by Taiwan's Power International Group.

Also in Asia, healthy eating series Vitaminix has been acquired by free TV channel RTM in Malaysia. Meanwhile, Lola & Virginia continues to extend its presence in Asia through a licensing and merchandising agreement with Empire International for South East Asia, which includes the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Taiwan.

The deal follows the high ratings of the show on Nickelodeon Asia.

"It highlights the international appeal of our product that we can sign these key deals in Asia in advance of AFT," said Christophe Goldberger, head of distribution and marketing.
