Final few places remaining for next May's swim around the Maltese Islands to raise cash for industry charity.
Fancy a few days enjoying the Maltese Islands next May? Well, here's your chance.
The Light Fund Swim Team needs three more members - either one female and two male, three male or three female - to take part in its charity swim between May 17th and 23rd 2008.
You would need to be able to swim 1,500 metres in 30 minutes and up to 4km in any one swim session.
The swim is both island hopping and coastal and will be done in sets as opposed to one giant swim all day every day. There will be 14 swimmers and three boats, all organised in partnership with Swim Trek.
Those brave souls already signed up are hoping to raise in excess of £20,000 for the Light Fund and there has even been talk of some celebrities being involved.
Swimmers already taking part include Stephen Gould (4Kids), Ian Downes (Start Licensing), Henry Mitchell (Barlow, Lyde and Gilbert), Craig Rowell (CPLG), Ian Down (Hamlins), Richard Flook (Steiner Leisure and Elemis), Jane Kennedy (4Kids), Jessica Johnson (sponsored by Kilogram Media), Cassie Allen (BBC Worldwide), Angela Cullinan (AW Energy) and Sarah Turlet (Zurich Professional).

Wow! 1,500 m in 30mins is a huge target - Grant Hackett's world record still stands at 14:10:10 which he achieved in 2001.

I am fat old bloke and I can do 1500m comfortably in 25 minutes at present. With beautiful clear blue water, sunshine and great craic with fellow swimmers - this will be a breeze!

Don't you believe him "fat old bloke" - if we're talking about me, now that's another story - but I could do the 1500 in a similar time, a few months ago though...!
