Milkshake's summer ratings soar

Host of pre-school shows bolster Five block; Shake strand also now back on air.

Five's Milkshake pre-school block enjoyed a sizzling summer, with a number of top rating shows helping to boost its ratings.

Programmes including Thomas & Friends, Peppa Pig, Fifi and the Flowertots, Hana's Helpline, Bottle Top Bill and The Mr Men Show helped total share for Milkshake's weekday morning shows from July 1st to August 25th - among four to nine year-olds - increase by 4.7 share points year on year.

Among housewives with children aged 0 to three it increased by an impressive 7.6 share points. This made Milkshake the most watched channel in the country among four to nines in its time slot, and the second most popular for housewives with kids aged 0 to three.

In addition, the week beginning August 17th saw 20 of Milkshake's shows in the top 30 most watched children's programme in the UK.

"Milkshake's summer viewing figures have been enormously encouraging," said Nick Wilson, Five's director of children's programmes. "We're absolutely thrilled to have increased our share and discover that more and more viewers are choosing to watch Milkshake's refreshing blend of top quality programming, competitions, songs and good old fashioned fun."
