In-store promotions will coincide with the release of The Simpsons Movie on DVD.

According to a report in free paper The Metro this morning, retail giant Woolworths has signed a deal to promote the Simpsons.

The creator of the cartoon family, Matt Groening, will be redrawing the store's puppet sheep and dog ad stars, Wooly and Worth, in a Simpsons style.

The store fascia at 200 sites will also be changed so that the double 'o' in Woolworths is replaced by doughnuts.

Five stores will be completely 'Simpsonised' according to the paper by replacing the traditional red frontages with the cartoon's famous yellow, with life-size Homer and Bart Simpsons on hand.

The deal is thought to be worth some £5 million to Woolworths and ties in with the release of The Simpsons Movie on DVD on Monday (December 10th).

Over in the US, Fox transformed 12 7-Eleven stores into real-life Kwik-E-Marts in July when the film was first released.
