US judge throws out lawsuit that accused toy maker of using bribes to secure licensing rights.

A bitter three-year legal battle is closer to being resolved after a Federal Court in the US threw out a lawsuit from World Wrestling Entertainment against Jakks Pacific.

WWE had accused the toy maker of using bribes to secure licensing rights. Jakks has had a deal with WWE to make toys based on its past and present professional wrestlers.

The partnership took a turn for the worse back in 2004 when WWE filed a lawsuit against Jakks.

Nickelodeon

It accused the firm of paying $100,000 in bribes to get licensing rights to make WWE-based video games.

WWE apparently asked the court for unspecified damages and to void the licensing agreements between the two companies. The deals do not expire until 2009.

The fight isn't over, however. State court litigation between Jakks and WWE is still pending.
