Expansion outside of comic and hobby markets planned for new trading card game in US.
4Kids Entertainment is aiming to ramp up interest in its new Chaotic trading card game outside of the core hobby and comic areas, continuing to sign licensees in the apparel and greetings sectors.
Over in the US, 4Kids is expanding the distribution of Chaotic to two 'mall-based' entertainment retailers. This will be backed up with a significant marketing campaign including in-store signage and entertainment displays.
In addition to this, the Chaotic Online Game Experience is adding new gameplay features, including three-on-three gameplay functionality and a trade sector which allows users to trade their cards online with other players.
Several new licensees have also been signed up: Giant Merchandising (t-shirts, sweatshirts and track jackets), BioWorld (headgear), Prima Games (strategy guide) and American Greetings.
"We look forward to building on this momentum with expanded release of the Chaotic Trading Card Game to mass market retailers and the signing of additional licensees in other key product categories early in the upcoming New Year," said Alfred R Kahn, chairman and CEO at 4Kids.
Since debuting in Beta form in late October, 4Kids says that more than 600,000 online cards have been registered at the game's website and over 110,000 online challenges have been made.
