Supermarket chain to sell official merchandise for South Africa tournament.

Asda's parent company, Wal-Mart, has struck an exclusive deal with FIFA to sell official merchandise for next year's World Cup tournament.

Wal-Mart will work with Global Brands Group to create 2010 FIFA World Cup Official Event stores in all the markets it operates in around the world.

The branded shops inside selected Asda outlets will sell a wide range of product including footballs, t-shirts, hats and bags.

"We want soccer fans around the world to participate in the world's most spectacular sporting event by giving them access to exclusive World Cup merchandise at a great price," said John Aden, senior VP at Wal-Mart.
