Society gets more 'throw away' every year. Our current obsession with so-called 'celebrity' means comparatively mediocre individuals have hit records and are seen on MTV, Youtube and the like. Most of them will never get the traction necessary to last like an AC/DC, Rolling Stones or Led Zeppelin. Even the Spice Girls, big as they were ten years ago, willl be completely forgotten about in anothyer twenty.
