With event taking place in March, sponsorship drive is now underway.
43 executives from the licensing industry - including Licensing.biz editor, Samantha Loveday - have committed to not just one, but two, quite frankly terrifying, runs in Innsbruck, Austria for the upcoming bobsleigh race challenge, to raise money for the Light Fund.
Organised by Bear Conran's Stephen Gould, The Light Fund Bobsleigh Challenge takes place from March 2nd to 4th at the Ingles track, just outside of Innsbruck.
With the team now confirmed, the sponsorship drive is also well underway. Each member has paid to take part and has also been charged with raising a minimum of £200 individual sponsorship.
However, corporate support is also vital - The Light Fund raised over £70,000 last year for a number of charities including Kidscape, Guide Dogs for the Blind, The Douglas Bader Foundation, Nordoff Robbins, Multiple Sclerosis, The Lymphoma Association and The Institute for Cancer Research. The bobsleigh event will play a large part in this year's fundraising efforts.
Gould explained: "For anyone wondering why they should sponsor us to take part, it's worth remembering that this is a bit more than a 'grown up' version of sledging.
"Our brief from our coordination partner Icerush is that we have 18 bends to navigate over a length of 1,200 metres, with a vertical drop from start to finish of 98.1 metres. We'll hit speeds in excess of 80mph on some bends and will experience five times the force of gravity - and flipping over or falling out is not a healthy option.
"It's going to be incredible, but I suspect it will also be really rather hair raisingly scary, as all of this takes only 60 seconds from start to finish."
