New artwork and licensing drive revealed as Matt Smith readies for his TV debut.
With the new Doctor, Matt Smith, set to make his debut this weekend (Saturday April 3rd), BBC Worldwide has unveiled the details of its new licensing programme for Doctor Who.
A new logo was revealed last October to drive excitement ahead of the new series. BBC Worldwide has also developed new artwork for the packaging of merchandise, using new fonts and colours to reinvigorate product lines.
Hitting shelves for spring/summer, the firm believes that the new packaging will help generate more attention for fresh product lines from existing and new licensees.
Character Options will be continuing its role as master toy licensee. The firm will launch initial products this spring/summer, followed by a wider range of lines in production for autumn/winter.
BBC Worldwide has also struck a new partnership with toy and gadget company, Wow Stuff. The deal will see a line of adult gift products, hitting shelves in autumn/winter. Products will be based on the upcoming series, as well as previous episodes, and will include desktop accessories and salt and pepper shakers.
Other licensees continuing their work with the brand include Pyramid and Ravensburger, which will have posters and jigsaws respectively. The Royal Mint is to continue with lines of commemorative medals, while seasonal confectionery will be delivered through an agreement with Bon Bon Buddies.
In addition, Christy's will expand the range of children's dress-up items to include a costume for Matt Smith.
