The new children's property launches of Miniclip.com, with Egmont already on board.
Zoikz is a franchise developed by Digital Outlook and RDF Rights, which is based on an idea by Dino Burbidge and developed and executive produced by Angus Fletcher.
Targeted at 8 to 12-year-old boys, the franchise will launch as a multilevel game with augmented reality trading on Miniclip, the online games website and a strategic partner for the property.
Egmont has signed as the global publishing partner and will initially be supporting the launch of Zoikz in pre-teen boys’ magazine Toxic to coincide with the Miniclip launch.
Jens Bachem, MD of Digital Outlook, said: “Launching a children’s character franchise as an online game with publishing, distribution and wider media exploitation partners on-board from the get-go isn’t just an innovative approach but also puts us in a strong position to make Zoikz a great success.”
Nigel Pickard, group director of family entertainment and drama at RDF commented: “We are delighted to be working on such an interesting project and are confident that this franchise will continue to evolve with the ultimate aim of creating a cross media brand of digital, gaming, publishing and television."
Debbie Cook, director of magazines, Egmont UK said: “We are excited to be part of the development of Zoikz. It’s a great concept with incredible appeal to pre-teen boys and we look forward to developing the story as the franchise evolves.”
Alexander Williams, head of games at Miniclip added: “This is a fantastic project to be involved with and our audience will love the challenge of the Zoikz game.
"Coupled with the offline components this is an exciting opportunity to build a great brand. Our aim is always to offer the best quality, free games available and this fits the bill perfectly.”
