Disney books make Indian debut

Classic stories translated into local languages to be released in March.
Disney Publishing Worldwide has inked a deal with Popular Prakashan for a collection of its classic stories to be released in Hindi and Marathi.
The deal includes the likes of The Jungle Book, Aladdin, The Lion King, Winnie the Pooh, Bambi, Cinderella, Tarzan and Peter Pan. The stories will also be available in Malayalam from March.
"Disney stories carry positive values and bring out the gift of imagination in children," said Harsha Bhatkal of Popular Prakashan.
"We are excited to help promote family reading in local languages through these eight Disney titles."
A spokesperson for Disney Publishing Worldwide (India) added: "We are pleased to provide young readers across India with great Disney reading experiences in their own languages. The launch of this collection reinforces our commitment to localise our stories and connect with consumers through content that is relevant to their everyday lives."
