New publishing programme to be endorsed by the stars of the BBC driving show.

An official line of Top Gear titles will be rolled out over the next three years.

The Bookseller reported that the new collection from BBC Books will be endorsed by the stars of the show - Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May - for the first time.

The range launches with Top Gear Top Drives for Father's Day, which is an illustrated book of road trips spanning six continents. It will be followed by The Big Book of Top Gear 2009 in October, while the deal also includes a further three books a year for the next three years.

"We are absolutely thrilled to be working with Top Gear, and we're really looking forward to creating this fantastic new list with their incredibly talented team," said Lorna Russell, BBC Books editorial director.

Top Gear MD Adam Waddell added: "For the first time, with Random House we now have a long-term and ambitious book publishing strategy from which we predict great things."
