First books arrive based on Five's Milkshake block, plus popular show Hana's Helpline.

UK publisher Random House Children's Books has launched the first of its titles based on Five's pre-school Milkshake programming strand.

There are two activity titles available, including guest appearances from some of the characters featured within the TV programmes. Further activity titles are due later in 2008, together with an annual.

In addition, the first books based on the Hana's Helpline series have rolled out.

Licensing director Mary Vacher believes that Hana's Helpline is a perfect example of the extra dimension that an interactive publishing venture can bring.

The titles feature some of the stories told on the programme, but also have added value, too.

Vacher commented: "At the end of each book there are tips for the readers relevant to the story they have just read. The one in which Hana goes swimming for example provides advice for parents and children in a special section at the back, with information about how to find and have safe swimming lessons."

Interactive books are also available for Pocoyo, some of which include four-piece jigsaws, die-cut pages and detachable figures.
