Franchise to join over 200 comic strip and cartoon features on comics web portal and emails.
Peanuts Worldwide has revealed that the popular comic strip franchise will be distributed in print, online and on mobile devices by Universal Uclick from February 2011.
Peanuts - which launched in seven US newspapers in October 1950 - will join more than 200 comic strip and cartoon features on the Universal Uclick comics web portal, GoComics.com. They will also be available in daily GoComics emails, which users can customise to include their favourite strips.
"We firmly believe in the significance and vitality of comic strips as an art form, and Peanuts exemplifies those traits," said John McMeel, president of Andrews McMeel Universal, parent company of Universal Uclick.
Jean Schulz, widow of Charles M Schulz, added: "We look forward to Universal's syndication of the Peanuts comic strip into traditional and new media applications."
