Woodmansterne and Bluebird Brands to roll out cards, stationery, bags, umbrellas and mugs.
Woodmansterne Publications has become the latest company to sign up to create product based on the Collins Gem brand from HarperCollins.
The firm will be launching greetings cards, gift wrap and tags, note cards and invitations featuring words and definitions taken the Collins English Dictionary. Beginning with a range of cards targeting the male market, designs will include 'nuts', 'whopper', 'cheers', 'macho', 'vintage' and 'dude'.
"We are delighted to be partnering with HarperCollins with this brand new range," said Julia Woodmansterne, the firm's creative director. "What a chance it has been to try and combine imagery, and the English wit of the double entendre, with word definitions from the Collins English Dictionary."
Meanwhile, Bluebird Brands is developing a line of stationery, bags, umbrellas and mugs, showcased at Autumn Fair earlier this month. Products will hit retail from October.
"I am delighted to be working with Woodmansterne and Bluebird Brands to develop the Collins dictionary into consumer products, beyond publishing," said Melanie Beer, head of licensing and content development at HarperCollins. "Merging funky words with trendy designs, these licensees are designing an awesome range."
