New revenue stream for Nickelodeon as it moves into the cruise business.
Nickelodeon is to begin to sell cruises, this week introducing its Nickelodeon Family Cruise with Royal Caribbean.
The network has hired the largest ship in the cruise industry - Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas - for August 10th to the 17th. It has now started to sell tickets to take more than 4,000 passengers to Mexico, Grand Cayman, Jamaica and a private beach in Haiti.
Ganes, shows and characters - such as Dora the Explorer and Spongebob Squarepants - will supplement the ship's usual activities and entertainment.
"The cruise space is intriguing," said Cyma Zarghami, Nickelodeon's president. "We can ramp up really quickly to come back in February if all goes the way we'd like it to go.
