HAVE YOUR SAY: How will the writers strike affect us?

Licensing.biz invites you to share your thoughts on this Friday's topic.
With the Hollywood writers strike already taking its toll in the US, with many networks having to cancel programmes and air repeats, what could the medium to long-term implications be for the licensing industry?
While 2008 films are obviously in the can, what about those due in 2009/2010 which are caught up in the protests?
With the possibly of accompanying merchandising and licensing drives also having to be delayed, how will this impact on financial year results for those firms with movie and high profile TV licences on their books?
Are you concerned, or do you think it will have no impact at all?

Of course, it could conceivably have an effect. But with the scope for new licences possibly lessened maybe it will just force licence holders to make the most of the licenses they already own.

We are a design firm that creates style guides for the entertainment business and the strike has certainly affected our work with a major television studio. The strike has delaying the design of 5-6 new show guides. My original thought was that the studios would need to continue a licensing and merchandising push to maintain a property buzz and awareness, but i guess not.
