Rovio explores Angry Birds licensing options

Firm to launch plush toys in time for Christmas as brand extends outside of mobile.

It's the number one paid for iPhone app, and now mobile games firm and IP owner Rovio is looking to move Angry Birds into the more traditional licensing arena.

Following in the footsteps of Crazy Frog - which broke out of mobile entertainment to become a mainstream phenomenon earlier this decade - Rovio has launched its own ecommerce site to sell Angry Birds plush.

Five toys are available, each based on one of the birds in the hit game and priced at $14.99.

Sister site Mobile Entertainment has also reported that Rovio is in talks with Hollywood studios over cinematic projects for Angry Birds.
