
Horrid Henry, Thomas, Scalextric and Inspector Gadget releasing iPhone and iPad applications.
A range of licensed properties are planning iPhone and iPad applications.
First up, Novel Entertainment is launching an iPhone app based on its Horrid Henry brand. The 59 pence app features nine of Henry's most popular sounds and sayings, a Purple Hand button which plays one of 17 random sounds, a video and links to the character's website.
Rocket Licensing has teamed up with game developer Sabec, meanwhile, for a Scalextric racing application for iPhone and iPad. One of the first games to take advantage of The Apple Game Centre, users can create their own Scalextric track and then race against the clock or an opponent. There are also four car models which can be customised.
In the US, Callaway Digital Arts has joined forces with Hit Entertainment to create a Misty Island Rescue application for the iPad. It is the first in a series of apps the two firms will be creating for the Thomas & Friends brand.
Finally, CPLG Canada has signed XMG Studio as a new licensee to develop mobile games based on the Inspector Gadget character and TV series. Inspector Gadget's Mad Dash is due to release this month on iTunes app stores around the world.
