Nickelodeon and 2K Play to roll out hit pre-school titles on Nintendo and Sony video games systems.
Pre-school favourites Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go will be appearing for the first time ever as console games, following a deal between Nickelodeon and 2K Play at Nurnberg today.
The two companies have expanded their current US deal across 28 additional territories throughout Asia-Pacific, Europe, Latin America and Canada.
The new three-year international partnership covers four of Nickelodeon's most popular properties - Dora the Explorer, Go Diego Go, The Backyardigans and Wonder Pets. Games will appear on Nintendo's Wii and DS machines, plus Sony's PlayStation 2 system.
"The expansion of our partnership with 2K Play reflects NVCP's strategic commitment to growing our casual gaming business and leveraging this exciting platform to deliver an even more dynamic and interactive experience to our worldwide audience," said Arwed-Ralf Grenzbach, VP of video games, music and special products for NVCP.
Dora Saves the Mermaids and Go Diego Go Safari Rescue will be the first Nickelodeon titles to launch internationally this spring. DS and PS2 versions of the Dora game will arrive in Australia and the UK in early March, while Safari Rescue is being planned for a March release on DS, Wii and PS2 in the UK, and in late April in France.
Safari Rescue represents the Wii's first game which has been engineered specifically for pre-schoolers and is based on extensive Nickelodeon in-home research that focused on how to best match the abilities and needs of younger children with the capabilities of the platform.
