BabyTV expands publishing in Portugal and Canada

Porto Editora to launch first books in North America through Smart Kids Canada.

BabyTV is further growing its publishing programme, teaming up with Portuguese publisher Porto Editora.

The company has come on board as the licensee for a range of book formats including story books, activity books and shaped based based on BabyTV's characters and IP. Launch dates are scheduled for the second quarter of 2011.

Meanwhile, in Canada, BabyTV's publishing partner Smart Kids Canada is planning to roll out a collection of early learning interactive books in Q4. The line-up will be spearheaded by a battery-operated 24-page interactive book featuring a piano keyboard with number and colour coded musical notes. This allows children to develop motor skills, learn colours and learn the basic concepts of music.

"We are very pleased to see both Porto Editora and Smart Kids bring our publishing programme to life in their respective markets and we are confident that we will expand the BabyTV brand further across other categories in the near future," said Ralf Kies, director of licensing and merchandising at BabyTV.
