US: New record for Disney.com

Website smashes all-time traffic and registration records in January.
According to new data from comScore Media Matrix, the Disney Online network of sites last month received 27.5 million unique visitors, beating all previous traffic records.
The traffic high represents an increase of more than ten per cent compared to the same period last year, and also led to a record number of registrations on the site.
Strong performances in virtual worlds – including the newly launched Pirates of the Caribbean Online – as well as other community driven areas of Disney.com, and Disney Parks, were major contributors to the achievement.
The peak performance was underscored by a record all-time high of site registrations, representing more than twice those for the same time last year, and more than five times the registrations logged in January 2006. Again, Pirates of the Caribbean Online was a major factor.
“We couldn’t be more thrilled with this new Disney.com traffic record,” said Paul Yanover, executive VP of the Walt Disney Internet Group and head of Disney Online.
