Malcolm Tucker: The Missing Phone app nominated in the New Media category.
A special app featuring Malcolm Tucker from the BBC's political comedy series, The Thick of It, has been nominated for a BAFTA award.
Released last December, Malcolm Tucker: The Missing Phone app works on the premise that spin doctor Tucker has lost his iPhone. It includes voice memos, emails and answer phone messages from Tucker and other characters, and accompanies the book, The Missing DoSAC Files, which was released by Faber last November.
The app is shortlisted alongside Wallace and Gromit's World of Invention, Misfits and LabUK/Brain Test Britain in the New Media category.
The book and app deal was agented by Claire Potter at Metrostar on behalf of The Thick of It writing team.
"It's thrilling news. Faber, Agant, the writers and cast have produced a brilliant app, but the thing we're most proud of is that this is the first time any app has been nominated for a TV BAFTA," said Potter. "This truly is brand licensing at its most creative."
