Spellbound pre-school property secures new partners in Portugal and Spain.

UK children's rights owner and producer Spellbound Entertainment has inked a series of new broadcast and distribution deals in Europe for pre-school series, The Koala Brothers.

State broadcaster RTP in Portugal has bought all 78x10-minute episodes, as well as the 46-minute Christmas special, The Koala Brothers Outback Christmas.

Cable and satellite children's channel Canal Panda will also take the series for Portugal from October.

In addition to this, Spellbound has secured a deal with Portuguese media company Big Picture Entertainment for home entertainment rights to the series in Portugal. The firm represents a number of high calibre pre-school titles including Bob the Builder, Thomas the Tank Engine, Charlie & Lola, Pocoyo and Cailou.

To complete the first foray into the Portuguese market, The Koala Brothers' publishing programme has been signed by Editoria Verbo, which publishes Noddy, Bob the Builder and Winnie the Pooh in the region.

Elsewhere, Imira Entertainment has been awarded the rights to represent the show in Spain across TV, licensing and merchandising. This is as well as representing TV in Latin America.

Peter Curtis, joint MD at Spellbound, said: "The Koala Brothers continues to generate excellent sales and business across the globe. We are delighted that the series has been so well received and is gaining further momentum across Europe."
